Saturday 24th Enghien www.frofsracing.com The soft ground at Enghien played an important role in the Grand Steeple d'Enghien (Gr2-5000m) - five of the twelve runners were pulled up. The former Portal's Toy (AQPS - Go Between), narrowly defeated last year in this race and was the favourite on Saturday, saw his plans thwarted by the heavy ground, having finished fifth without ever threatening the front group. His jockey Nathalie Desoutter said afterwards, "If the ground dries sufficiently, he could return in the Grande Course de Haies (the Prix Leopold d'Orsetti, Gr3, November 25)."
