Sunday, November 29th. The favourite in the €150,000
Prix Morgex Chase (Gr3 - 4y - 4,100m) ,
Rubi Ball (AQPS - Network) took his responsibilities in hand and won the race from pillar to post. Runner up to
Long Run in the Maurice Gillois, he was early on accompagnied by
Misérable (Discover d'Auteuil), on the final bend, only
Mail de Bièvre (Cadoudal) was alongside the eventual winner. After jumping the last hurdle, the experience and toughness of Rubi Ball made the difference.
"I thought that the heavy ground would be a problem, but the more he runs the tougher he gets", confided Christophe Pieux.
"He has given his all since Pau, which is typical of top horses. As it's him I'll make an effort to ride him in the Grand Prix de Pau!" Jacques Ortet had already announced that the Group 3 would be the next objective for the chestnut. Rubi Ball is exceptional in the fact that he ran right up until the end of 2008 in Paris, then ran at Pau and has not stopped since then. It is a testimony to his trainer's ability that he has managed to keep him in top form for such a long period of time. Rubi Ball was bred in Saone-et-Loire by Jean-Louis Berger and Peter Duvignand. His dam
Hygie (Lute Antique) has also produced
Quecy de Chadzeau (Network), who joined the stud a few weeks ago after an injury. Her next two produce were both by
Robin des Champs, a yearling filly and a colt foal, who have both been acquired by the Papot family.
