There was another interesting race for AQPS horses on the card today, this time for 3 year olds on the flat, the €24,000 Prix Richard de Gennes (2400mT). This race was won by top 4yo hurdler Rendons Grace (AQPS-Video Rock). Shom Sioul (AQPS - Divine Light) was a bit lucky to win this with Arnaud Bourgeais up. The winning filly, who was having her second ever start, held on by a neck from the favourite Sun Des Mottes (AQPS - Adnaan), who did not have much room one out and had the winner veering in front of her. Shom Sioul was previously 2nd on her first time out at Saint Malo over 2,450m in August of this year. She's out of a Useful mare, that is a "reversed AQPS cross" as traditionally, halfbred mares are crossed with thoroughbreds, and not the other way around, even though The Fellow and Al Capone II both were born out of a thoroughbred dam crossed with a haflbred sire (Italic). "Shom Sioul is a real hafbred," said the winning rider. I wanted to start early because we could have been outpaced otherwise. She can improve on that."
