A small field went to post for the €24,000 Prix Baron de Pierres 4yo AQPS Chase (3,700m). Jockey Tony Foucher had an unfortunate experience on the Ballymore Thoroughbred Ltd owned Rialto du Chatelet (AQPS - Lavirco) as his saddle slipped forward and he was forced to take his feet out of the irons in order to attempt to pull up which he eventually succeeded in doing. The race finally went to the James Reveley ridden Rose D'Estruval (AQPS - Lavirco) who is trained by his boss Guillaume Macaire. Reveley is based with his father Keith Reveley in England but spends his summers riding for Macaire in order to gain more experience. The winning mare has been successful on three previous occasions, the last two wins coming on her last two runs, where both times she was ridden by Reveley. She's bred by Pas-de-Calais traditional breeder Bernard Le Gentil, as her name suggests. Her family traces back to the French National winner Sabre d'Estruval(AQPS), but even though his second dam gave ten winners (her Saint Preuil dam was a maiden entering stud though), the family is not the liveliest of the AQPS stock. Rose d'Estruval is a bit on a mission here.
